Can green light help fibromyalgia?
After using it to treat migraines, which we covered recently, the researchers wanted to see if its pain-reducing effect was more general.
They recruited 21 people with fibromyalgia that medication had failed to help.
Small study, but it’s a start.
Study setup
They gave them each strips of white LEDs and green LEDs.
They were told to spend one to two hours per day sitting in a room with no other light source but those LEDs.
They were to sit three to six feet away, keep the LEDs in view, but not stare directly at them, just like the migraine protocol.
They did 10 weeks on the white LEDs, took two weeks off, and then did 10 weeks on the green LEDs.
